☞ As a park ranger and naturalist it is a deep passion of mine to highlight the beauty and wonder of nature. Living wonder is everywhere around us at all times from the creatures that inhabit the deepest blues of the ocean to the lichens that grow the side of our house. Even with the natural world seemingly shrinking with each new suburban development, it is my goal as a photographer to make my viewers feel connected to their surroundings through my art.
As a young photographer who had just been introduced to DSLR cameras at the age of 13 years old, I immediately became obsessed with taking macro images of the flowers and invertebrates that inhabited my backyard. Simply adding magnifying filters to my lens allowed me to peek into the microscoping world and experiment with natural but abstract looking images. By age 14 I knew what a snails’ goo looked like at 10x magnification, and that set me down a path of neverending environmental discovery. I later focused my area of study to Wildlife Biology and Zoology in my college years while studying at Colorado State University. While in school, I honed my photography skills as I also grew my personal knowledge in the natural sciences.
I have worked a variety of jobs which have offered me the opportunity to live in beautiful places and encounter some of the most incredibly biodiverse landscapes. The images in my nature and landscape collections range from sunset at the expansive Wind River Mountain Range in Wyoming, to the incredible breaching of humpback whales in the Maui Nui Basin, to even a harbor seal birthing a pup upon an iceberg in Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park. Through these images, it is my goal to connect the viewer to the natural world, and allow them to feel a sense of belonging over the Earth and all it has to offer.
